12:45 Paper Collaboration pod 2

Rachel Fuerst, Hannah Harms, and David Gangwish

I'll be "pod leader" if no one else wants to.....who is you

WE SHOULD WRITE ABOUT HOW TECHNOLOGY IS TAKING OVER SOCIETY. TECHNOLOGY=BAD.

It might be a little hard to find sources for that

We can use the sources from last class: i have some which pertain to the awful aspects of facebook/myspace. i also have an article about pandora music genome project---> web 2.0 is taking over every facet of life-the way ppl make friends, the way ppl listen to music, consumerism.

technology is the downfall of mankind.

anyone else have other ideas? i really don't want to have to work on this outside of  class.

OH! we can use this class project as an example of the evils of technology-we aren't communicating to eachother like humans should--> i mean we're talking/planning over a wiki......isn't that a little suspicious? web 2.0=bad.

ok we can write on that, Rachel you start writing and ill find some sources

Anyone there? all of the anti-web 2.0 spiel was from rachel......

Hannah: thank god. finally.

okay i think these are all pretty good ideas, but i think other good examples would be those people that get their social interaction by playing those national/international whatever they are, video games and sit attached to head sets all day with their "friends" instead of going outside.

rachel is saving this. correct?

GOOD POINT, HANNAH!

ok here is what we need research wise:

- an article on what consitutes web 2.0--> i found a printed out document next to my computer- look this up: Author: Nick Booth from Computerweekly.com

- We need an article on how gaming- international/national- has impacted individuals, or even just something about how many hours ppl play these games for.

- can we use articles that we had from last class?

Any other ideas?-Rach

The privacy concerns raised by Facebook's Beacon service are just the beginning: Broader tracking is coming to social networks. this is a sudo usefull quote, ill get the citation on here soon

i'll try looking up things about gaming "culture" and the effect of blogs etc in our society today.

here is the MLA Citation for that quote

Perez, Juan. "Can You Trust Your Social Network?." PC World Vol. 26. Issue 2.Febuary 2008 12 Febuary 2008 <http://web.ebscohost.com/ehost/detail?vid=8&hid=22&sid=3f94bdcc-5989-4492-b587-7d52f4bef41a%40sessionmgr9>.

The other thing we can remember is the content in this class is completely unimportant, lets just get it done and have all the technical stuff correct

Gotcha, on technicalities.

Alright, i have one source of my own......thanks for the quote- what is the in text citation for that one? open a word doc and put the brackets in.....ahhh. this is too complex, i hate this.

here is another quote and citation

"Daily activity lowers your risk of surgery"

"Fitness." Prevention Vol. 59. Issue 7July 2007 115-115. 12 Febuary 2008 <http://web.ebscohost.com/ehost/detail?vid=14&hid=22&sid=3f94bdcc-5989-4492-b587-7d52f4bef41a%40sessionmgr9>.

make sure you do a header with our names and the class time

im not really doing anything send me something and ill write one of teh paragraphs

Ok: write about gaming and how the impacts of internet games are bad......causes obeisity, stupidity and overall lameness. oh wait.....well, just make up something. that's what i've been doing!

ALSO: I HAVE 2 of 3 REQUIRED SOURCES. I JUST NEED ONE MORE.....WAIT, WHO IS WRITING THE PARAGRAPH!?

I ONLY HAVE 1 WRITTEN.

I will write a paragraph about how gaming is bad, this is david by the way and use the quote above about daily activities lowers risk of surgery

SWEET! I have 2 paragraphs written and 3 sources. I'll make the bibliography really quickly

can you post the paragraph with the citation on wiki page or email it to me?

here it is

Gaming, while it may have a large amount of entertainment and some educaitonal value, is creating obesity and unhealthy children. While no more then twenty years ago most children played outside and where involved in a large array of sports, this is changing due to video games and television. Children who play more video games get less and less physical excersise. Physical excersise is monumentally useful to health and according to “Prevention” magizine it, “Daily activity lowers your risk of surgery" (Prevention 115). This is only one of hudreds of heath benefits that physical activies create. Gamers, while their thumbs may hurt, are not getting physical activites.

heres a good source
